Andre Lamonte Boggs
André Lamonté Boggs born May 25, 1977 in Downingtown, Pa and later raised in t, Pa. Growing up in Coatesville is where he honed his athletic abilities as a child playing football basketball from the early age of 5, succeeding on grade school, high-school, and collegiate levels. André also tapped into his creative side at the age of 12, when he ybegan drawing and painting. He would spray paint and draw on Denim Jean sets. He did thisisntfair as a way to stay stylish and fresh like the popular kids who had money for new clothes and sneakers. André attended Coatesville Area Senior High-school, where we was a 1st Team All-State athlete in both football and basketball as well as backcourt partner of NBA Legend Rip Hamilton also a Coatesville native. He received a Division 1 basketball scholarship and art scholarship. Unfortunate decisions during his senior year of high school, lead to André losing his basketball scholarship. He picked up the pieces and refocused on life while attending Essex County Junior College, Lincoln University, and ITT Technical Institute. During this time André also became a licensed Pennsylvania barber. André's life experiences have become huge influences on the art he creates.
In search of an outlet outside of the underworld street-life of Coatesville, André became a owner/barber of a local shop. All while still having aspirations of bringing the culture of art to his small city of Coatesville, Pa; and wanting art to be his new life long career. The cold blooded murder of his older brother Sonny Hill in 2006, who was shot and killed at the front door of his home is another huge part of his motivation to become a well established artist.
As well as André's mother Carla Boggs-London who loved and appreciated art too, it was her introduction of art to André that further developed his passion for art. Which lead him to want to start his own art company. Unfortunately before Carla could see this, she lost her fight with cancer passing away in 2007. The loss of another one of his inspirations birthed the establishment of André "Lamonté" Artworks Inc. in 2015. André has been consistently working on paintings this past year, showcasing his work on social media platforms Behave, Twitter, Facebook, Art Jawn, Tumblr, and Instagram. He has done showcases in cities such as Philadelphia, Miami, Houston, Orlando, Los Angeles, and West Chester.
He also has artwork currently being displayed in businesses such as The Ivystone Gallery, Lincoln University of Pennsylvania, Kooma Asian Cuisine, The Roots Cafe, and Sprout Music Collective in West Chester, Pa.
André plans to grace Art Basel in Miami in the near future, with the ultimate goal of a solo show, as well as aspirations to reach SOHO NYC's fine art galleries & International touring. André finds inspiration to create from his kids, the world around him, and the life experiences that have formed him.
His creativity and inherent skill for painting have made him the artist he is becoming.
